FMCSA REQUIREMENTS: When the Owner Operator is the Driver
When the owner is also the only driver, this is what you need:
1) To be part of a random drug testing pool, this is required by the FMCSA.
2) To take a Pre-Employment Drug Test before you start logging hours under your DOt Authority.
3) Enroll in the Clearinghouse and select Vertical Identity as your TPA

DOT Physical (every two years)
FMCSA REQUIREMENTS: When the Owner Does Not Drive and Will Hire a Driver
When the owner is not the driver, and is hiring a driver to operate the Motor Carrier this is what you need:
1) Your new driver needs to be part of a random drug testing pool, this is required by the FMCSA.
2) To take a Pre-Employment Drug Test before they start logging hours under your DOT Authority.
3) Enroll in the Clearinghouse and select Vertical Identity as your TPA.
4) Run a Query on your Driver – before they log hours and annually.
5) Run a Driving Record Report on your Driver – before they log hours and annually.
6) Run a Background Check on your driver.
7) For the Owner, you need to take a 2 Hour Reasonable Suspicion Class

DOT Physical (every two years)
FMCSA REQUIREMENTS: When the Motor Carrier has Multiple Drivers
We can manage random pool from 1 driver to hundreds. If your pool has more then 50 drivers, we move you to your own pool, and help you manage the pool as your administrator.
1) Your drivers needs to be part of a random drug testing pool, this is required by the FMCSA.
2) Your drivers must take a Pre-Employment Drug Test before they start logging hours under your DOT Authority.
3) The Motor Carrier must enroll in the Clearinghouse and select Vertical Identity as your TPA.
4) Run a Query on each Driver – before they log hours and annually.
5) Run a Driving Record Report on each Driver – before they log hours and annually.
6) Run a Background Check on your driver, including DOT History Request from past employers.
7) For the DER or Designated Emplyer Representative, you need to take a 2 Hour Reasonable Suspicion Class

We started back in 2001 in public records, specializing in Background Screening services and serving Corporate and Government. We were a data company, providing data to those with a permissible purpose under regulations.
In 2011, our founder Sarah Hope, relocated to Arizona, and started Vertical Identity, with a full service background screening company serving Nationwide clients.
In 2016, we opened our first drug testing clinic in downtown Phoenix, to serve the local transit clients that were in our hometown. In 2018, we opened up our second location in Glendale, AZ. Owning and operating our own clinics soon helped us realize the gaps in serving Owner Operators and Small Fleets, and our Consortium program was born.
In 2018, we started our Nationwide Consortium, and now we service over 1000 Motor Carriers Nationwide. We look forward to learning more about your company and serving you for years to come with your background screening, driving records and drug testing.

Richard Alan Churchwell, is our C/TPA Consortium Manager for Vertical Identity. Most of the time when you call or contact us, you will be speaking to Richard. You will soon learn that he has a “tiny” accent with his southern charm, and a knack for explaining the random process with amazing grace.
Richard Alan joined us in 2018, after serving a lifetime as a Pastor. Sometimes you will hear us call him “Pastor”. He has a love for helping people, and offers the best customer service and expertise in the country!
Richard is assisted by our team that is based across the country, in locations in the East Coast as well as the West Coast.
Best of all, with access to over 5200 locations Nationwide, we are able to get you scheduled at drug testing facilities close to where you live, work or are delivering an order.
After hours, and on weekends, our phones are manned 24/7 and our team is on call for after hour emergency post accident calls or drug testing.
Consortium Drug and Alcohol Pool $85 Per Year
Whether you are the only Motor Carrier Driver or you have other Drivers, you can all be included in our DOT Compliant Drug & Alcohol Testing Pool. Additional Drivers are only $25 per year.
Driving Records 50 States
Motor Vehicle Records report is required in your Drivers Qualification File in addition to Annual updates per Driver. We can pull these annually automatically for you.
